The Beginning
The Origin of the Trails Master Plan
In 2017, the Wright County Supervisors hired an engineering firm to guide the formation of a plan to link the Three Rivers Trail in Humboldt and Pocahontas counties to the Prairieland Trail in Cerro Gordo county, via the major communities in Wright County (Belmond, Clarion, and Eagle Grove). Â In 2018 the Supervisors approved a Trails Master Plan, leading to the formation of the Wright County Trails Committee representing the three largest communities, county conservation and rural/agriculture.
A Broad Economic Impact
Access For All, Benefit for All
The Trails Master Plan directly recognizes the importance of a robust trail system in boosting our local economy. Adding trails to a community influences the location choices made by relocating companies or companies looking to expand, and brings in an influx of trail-traveling visitors to the community and region. Our trail system is accessible by people of all ages and abilities for recreation and transportation, including Iowans who use wheelchairs.
